Phantom of Fugue
Phantom of Fugue is a chamber work, largely rhythmic and groove-driven, that tests the possibilities of rhythmic polyphonic writing in asymmetrical metres. It is one of the more optimistic and inviting pieces in my catalogue — captivating in the warm sound of strings with clarinet, and carried by a constant pulse throughout. It has a warm opening and plays with the particular colour of the bass clarinet, which changes to clarinet during the piece. It has been performed several times by the Polish Hashtag Ensemble, who also recorded it, and by the Israel Chamber Ensemble.
"פאנטום אוף פיוג'" היא יצירה קאמרית, רובה ריתמית וגרוּבית, הבוחנת את אפשרויות הכתיבה הפוליפונית-ריתמית במשקלים אסימטריים. זוהי אחת היצירות האופטימיות והמזמינות יותר בקטלוג שלי — שובה לב בצליל החם של כלי הקשת עם הקלרינט, ונישאת על פעמה קבועה לכל אורכה. יש לה פתיחה חמה, והיא משחקת עם הצבע המיוחד של קלרינט הבס, המתחלף לקלרינט במהלך היצירה. היא בוצעה כמה פעמים על ידי אנסמבל "השטאג" הפולני, שגם הקליט אותה, ועל ידי האנסמבל הקאמרי הישראלי.
